Pro Tools with XP

i read that pro tools work with windows xp.... i got windows xp service pack 3 but do i need m-audio hardware to make pro tools workin on my pc?

and wich version of pro tools do i need for my windows xp sp3 to install? and that it dosent need m-audio

Your only other choice is Digidesign hardware. Sorry, there is no version of Pro Tools available that can work on any old soundcard.

Your choices are:

Pro Tools LE - with a Digidesign interface (003 or one of the Mbox 2 Family)

and

Pro Tools M-Powered - with a supported M-Audio interface.

Pro Tools (regardless of whether or not it's M-Powered, LE or HD) is an integrated system. That is that the software requires the hardware to run. There are various reasons for this.
