Pro Tools and Plugins

What plugins are compatible with Pro Tools LE? I was all ready to get the UAD-1 card because I'd heard so many good things about it, but it seems that it's uncompatible with Pro Tools (just like everything else).

What's good and compatible? I'm mainly looking for comps and eq's, for mixing....I don't do any mastering myself.
 
the UAD-1 now can work with pro tools there is a VST to RTAS adapter...comes with the UAD-1 Studio or Project Pak not sure about the Mackie version though.
 
check out the vst-rtas wrapper from fxpansion. it allows you to use most vst plugins with protools and apparently it works for the uad-1. i use it and it works fine with the psp plugins anyway. its reviewed in this months sound on sound. otherwise there is a link on the digidesign website to companies that make compatible plugins. i think its under the development partners heading?
 
What about waves plugins? I'm a student so I could get a great deal on them....unless the UAD-1 has a student price, though I haven't found one.

Unfortunately it doesn't come with the Mackie card.
 
How does one get a discount on Waves by being a student? :-) (Ears perk up)

Most software has a "student" price, if you have a valid student ID you can a discount because they assume you're using it for a class.
