I installed windows xp a while back and now I can`t seem to get my cakewalk pro audio 8 to install.I went to cakewalk but couldn`t find an upgrade.any one know what my problem is . Any help would be sooo appreciated.thanks

I think CWPA 8 meant to be "Windows 98" rather than XP. I never took version 8 before, but probably it's a compatibility issue with XP. Anyway, why exactly you can't install it ? There's gotta be a specific issue reported.

It was never intended to work with 2000 or XP, just NT 4.0.

You must either purchase Sonar or Home Studio 2002. I doubt there is any discounted upgrade as both PA8 and 9 have been discontiued for quite some time.

PA8 doesn't make use of newer features like WDM drivers or DX plug-ins either.

Actually, you gotta give Cakewalk credit - they have discounted upgrades for all their previous owners on their website. Looks like PA8 to Sonar 2.1 is $149. Nice step up, great price.

Thanks for the replys .What I`ve decided to do is partition my hard drive for two os`s . I`ll use windows98 with my music stuff and xp for the rest.I may upgrade to sonar later, that is a great deal. thanks again
