Hi

I just got the Presonus Firebox and I have it hooked up to my I-mac. When I shut the Mac down the light on the Firebox glows red. Do I always have to keep the Firewire plugged in even when not using the Firebox? It does seem to get a little warm.

Thanks for the help.

And for what it's worth: I tried two other M-audio interfaces and this was the best.

The iMac provides a trickle of power to its Firewire ports even when the machine is shut down. I wouldn't have thought it would be enough to power that up, though. Are you using the power supply or something?

I can't see any reason that you'd need to keep the fw plugged in at all times. I have a firepod hooked up to my PC laptop, and regularly disconnect in all states and stages of power up and power down.

Same here. I turn off my Firepod at night most of the time since, as you say, it gets very warm (and after a number of days of being on, it will start to pop and crackle in the monitors), so I turn it off by turning off my rackmount power strip. And most of the time, the Mac powerBook its connected to is still on - everything has been fine so far.

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll just turn it in when I use it then. I had my old M-audio always hooked up to my Mac because I listen to music through my monitors also, but because this gets so warm I'll just unplug it.

Thanks Again.
