I've decided that I want to try using a firewire recording inter face instead of simply pluging my PA mixer into my computers line in input. Has anyone had any experience with the PreSonus FP10 FireWire Recording Interface? It's currently 100$ off at musicians friend and I've been considering purchasing it. I'd like to know if there are some flaws I should consider, pros and cons, and any recomendations you might have for me. This would be my first true recording interface.

a friend of mine has it, but i have not personally used it. from what i know its a great interface, but some people complain about daisy chaining not working. the stuff he has recorded sounds really great, and gets the job done and more. im planning on getting a presonus fp 10 or motu 8 pre. the two are somewhat similar. im sure experts could tell you more about it than i can, but thats my two cents.

I have the FirePod (Earlier model, I believe the FP10 just has nicer pre's) and it does what it does. As long as you have some good software to run it with it should be fine. It comes with Cubase LE which only lets you record 2 tracks simultaneously which is pretty stupid to put in with an 8 channel interface. I use Sonar 6 with it, and before I was mixing down into stereo before recording. The firepod makes everything SO much nicer.

You should also consider some of the MOTU interfaces. I have heard some pretty cool things about them.

Good luck!
