Hi,
For anyone who owns or has used the Soundcraft folio notepad what are the preamps like? It says they are studio qualtiy and clean but it would say that wouldn't it.
I have a KORG D16 and need really to have the trim levels of the D16 as low as possible as they are noisey when up; I am not planning on using the notepad (if I get it) for mixing, I only need it for recording (for the phantom power and the preamps.
I posted another thread in the rack section similar where my dilems was which preamp to get (DBX 386/Envoice or Joe Meek), but the problem being I have more than one mic I need to use the preamp for at any given time.
I have a few good mics and aren't overally bothered about the EQ or compression features on the preamps for the actual recording, I just want to capture the sound without having extra horrible noise as is the current case when just going into the D16.
I know this may not be overlly suited to the mixing and mastering but I don't know where else to put it (afterall it is a mixer (is it a recording technique)).
I have heard great things about the ghost preamps of the Soundcraft boards and so am hoping I don't have to buy a Soundcraft M series product just yet to get good preamps (as I stated I'm not going to be using it for mixing).
Sorry for going on but I'm really hoping that the response is that the pre's are indeed quiet which will result in capturing the mics capability but without the noise; I will also then be able to buy an Envoice or Joe Meek VC-1Q (just for use in single mic recording).
Thanks in advance for any insights you may be able to offer (or alternatives of course),
Krystof.
