Pre-amps on 4-tracks

I know this sounds stupid, but do all 4-tracks have pre-amps?
I'm looking into buying the porta2 and I don't know if it has a pre-amp onboard. Anybody know?

most 4 tracks do have preamps....the Porta2 has 2 i believe.....
