Maybe a stupid question...they said you won't laugh.
I recently switched recording systems. I had been using ACID Pro for a long time (long story for some other time) and just got the Presonus Studio One with the Audiobox interface. I have recorded about 10 songs so far and, as with any new system, the quality of the recording gets a little better each time. I have a few mics that I had been using with different pre-amps over time (most recently a trio of Behringer MIC100s)
the mics include: AT 3035, Sterling ST51, Oktava MK319 and an AT P645 that I had used to fairly good effect for acoustic guitars and hand percussion.

I know the Presonus Audio box has it's built-in pre-amps but I'm not overly impressed with the quality. Is there any problem using another pre-amp (such as one of the Behringers) before the Audiobox.
thanks in advance. Love this site, by the way there's a ton of great information here.

The inputs on the AudioBox are for mics or instrument inputs; there are no line inputs which is where you would normally plug in an external preamp.

You could try plugging your preamp into one of the mic/instrument inputs with the gain turned all of the way down, but you'll still be going through the AudioBox preamps.

Thanks for replying.

I'll give it a try and see if there's much difference. I really wanted to make sure there would be no conflict with using two pre-amps.

One of the interesting things I'd found while reading many of the threads here, was that my room set-up has been pretty much ignored and I need to seriously look at some other potentially expensive improvements too!
