Not sure if everyone is familiar with this plug-in or not, but I have recently started using "Neodynium" from elemental audio and it is an amazing variation on compression.

Rather than traditional multiband compressors, it allows you to compress 4 seperate "zones" of input levels. Meaning you can compress from a -6 threshold a certain amount, and from -12 to -6 a certain amount, etc, etc....
Also it allows filters on the "key" input, or the input which triggers the compression including a sidechain, so you can get extremely surgical with your compression. It has a very intuitive graphical interface and sounds terrific.
A very useful tool, I just wanted to spread the word in case people have never heard of this.
