Anyone have any recommendations for an inexpensive power amp?

I was scoping an alesis ra-100.

Any thoughts would be welcome!

thanks!

Go Hafler. I can't remember the model, but they make an "entry level" amp based on the TransNOVA that's pretty sweet.

You'll thank me later...

[EDIT] It's the TA-1600 [/EDIT]

The Hafler TA1600 is very nice. About $199. The Alesis power amps don't have the best reputation. The Haflers do.

I didn't even realize they were that inexpensive... I almost wish I needed one now. :)

Ahh, he who is lacking in Plasma:}

In the great effluvia of magnetic devices there is an alternative.

However, the alternative will cost a few more ingots of green.

Out of the mist comes the Yamaha AX-592 integrated amplifier. Why this one may ask?

I use this amp to run my entire studio -- it can handle two sets of speakers -- I have monitors and commericial speakers hooked in. In addition, this marvel of the marvelous will patch in two tape decks of your choice -- it will patch in the CD player and phono if needed. It has an AUX patch for whatever and it will record to and from all the patches. Pretty neat. One of the nicest features of this little amp is a "clear through" switch which bypasses any coloring the amp itself might add.

You might want to just look at one if you're building a studio. I can run my SIAB right into anything hooked into the amp except the CD player patch. The SIAB has its own CD burner -- all set to rumble.

Well, it's a thought that you might think about or research. There are some very pricy intetrated amps that hi/fi buffs delve into; the Yam I mentioned is not as expensive and it fits my needs at this time.
