Mackies have plastic casings for their pot's. Normal Pot cleaner will harm them (don't ask me how I know this about mackies, let's just say that the company I worked for got a new console out of the deal... :))

Call mackie tech support and ask them what they recommend.

Potentiometer cleaner that is. I've got a Mackie board with obnoxiously scratchy & crackly trim knobs. I seem to recall hearing somewhere that pot cleaner can actually do harm. Is this true? Does it even work?

why would you wanna clean your pot ? SMOKE IT MAN !!!

I had to file a claim against Tech Spray which is Radio Shacks brand of pot spray. I was rewarded enough to replace an equalizer it destroyed. Unfortunately it wasn't the the same vintage brand, so it was actually a NON-replaceable item.

Here is a quick fix....
Turn off the equipment, Then work the offending potentiometers back and forth several dozen times. This usually cleans the wiper well enough to use for a week or so.

(The only reason for turing the unit off is so you wont hear the annoying noise as you work the pot).

Sincerely;

Dom Franco

Mackies have plastic casings n their pots? The cheap little buggers - scratch them off the possible mixer list...if i'm going to pay an arm and a leg for a decent sized desk, I want decent components to match
