Thanks frits - ironically, I've just done another Rog the Bear video for a work short film competition. Same concept. Different music. I work at a largish financial services company, staff of about 4000, and they were having this competition, along work lines of course. We'd recently restructured and so I sent out an email saying, in a team bonding sort of way, have cameras, editing software, audio recording etc. if anyone wants to do a video. A few people got slightly interested and we got together and I thought "this ain't gonna work" so I went home and made another Rog video just as a fall back position. He's pimping superannuation...

As it turned out, the team got together and I edited together a reasonable video for them mashing up the Carling Black Label squirrel footage and a few other things, and I submitted that one and slipped Rog's video in anyway, just for the hell of it. There were 31 submissions in total.

Got the email yesterday - Rog the Bear is a finalist, the team's squirrel video didn't make the cut, and I'm invited to a gala red carpet evening in a couple of week's time to announce the "People's Choice" and official winners... For getting this far I've won $200. And if Rog wins a major prize, it's another $1000. If he wins both, $2000. Probably I won't win either, but...

The irony being that after all these years of never making a brass razoo out of music, apart from when I was doing covers, I'm now raking it in (well, relatively...) for videos, which feature my music which no-one will actually be listening to..... I haven't told anyone running the comp it's not Rog's first video, and that he's a seasoned professional...:laughings:

I wonder if we'll win... :D

Tuesday week in the evening is the big red carpet thing... I'll have to work out what Rog can wear... and me as well. I have no idea what "Dress code: Cocktail" means for a bloke.... :laughings:

Hey Fritz!!!! Rog won the comp!!!!! Yay...

Just came back from the red carpet gala do at work and he got the top award for best short film from the senior management team... woo hoo.... and I get $1000, more to the point. Not bad for an afternoon's work. Everyone loves a bear... :thumbs up::)

Apparently he'll be up on the work YouTube channel soon, I'll post the video in here when he appears. LOL.. fame at last... for him, anyway... :laughings:

That is totally awesome!! Any jobs going at your work? I really like the sound of it there. Now is the time to be thankful for your 'beary' silent partner. I guess he's not going to be asking for a 50% split of the profit, even if he thinks he deserves it. Damn, all he's got to communicate are the cue cards that YOU write. :D What are you going to do with the cash, $1000 bucks is a lot of money man. New instrument, gear...not the mortgage surely? Congrats Armi, that video sure was original and funny, glad you got some credit for it. :)
 
I'm actually going to put it towards a camera lens.. I've got enough guitars and gear to last a lifetime...! Although I'm tempted to upgrade the bass...

I'm really stoked... couldn't come at a better time at work... it's important that people really actually know who I am seeing they've just restructured and no-one knew exactly what to do with me... made lots of new friends tonight. As did Rog... Including the CEO and all his minions...

It was quiet nerve wracking... they played through the nine finalists and I kept thinking "Where's Rog?" but when they played him last I started thinking "They did that for a reason" - then they announced the people's choice award to one of the others, and I got the major award. Awesome!

Thing is, I'm sick as a dog and I was going to take tomorrow off, but no way can I do that now... sigh. The price of fame... LOL...

It's actually a different video, but he's doing the same thing, so I'll post it up here when it appears.:)

Just bear in mind (ahem...) that it was for a corporate video comp, so Rog the Bear is pimping superannuation... (a.k.a. retirement savings for those elsewhere in the world). They were going to put it up on their YouTube channel but haven't, so I've stuck it up on mine.. Same style as the other one, basically.

Seeing as how we are all in a Congratulating Armistice mode, I'll post one of my favorite songs. Yeah, it's Arm's song, but I mixed this version, so I am allowed to post it. (And it is one of my all-time favorite songs)

Why thankee Mr Chili.... alas, I cannot claim to have written this one as the other half of the band did, but I made it swing... still the best bass work I've come up with to date. :D

The other guy is now pregnant again (or his wife is) and in the face of two shrieking rugrats The Jongleurs are well and truly history, at least for now, but I offered him the opportunity to finish off another song or two before the happy event and that would give us an album's worth. He's agreed. To be released posthumously, sort of...

That's really cool. I can see how that was the winner for sure. I suddenly feel very worried about my retirement though...maybe I ought to get me a swear jar. I'll be a millionaire by the time I'm 50. :D
 
Hey congratulations Armistice, that's awesome!

Well, as long as this thread's still goin', I'll share this little lo-fi gem I just unearthed from 6 or 7 years back. I think the kick drum level might be skewed in relation to the OHs and there's a little too much energy in the 2k-3k region. HA! Just kidding, it's all crap.
