John, you have that very same Boston, the GP 218, in your piano room at Left Bank Studios don't you?

Im not posting anything until I haul something with at least 76channels in here... ;)
My setup looks really silly, I never buy stuff because I can borrow everthing I need from my dad. Next time I setup lots of gear in my befroom ill post a pic, ok?
I get good sounds though ( http://figuresfromhere.iuma.com ), but everthing looks like a bloody mess. Cables and gear, micstands everywhere. Not in anyway like the neat studios posted here.
very nice!

Dude,

Get real. Everyone's a real studio pig until it's time to get out the digi-cam. Then it's off to the powder room for half the day to get all prettied up.

Of course, Photoshop has a "Clean-up Studio and Upgrade to SSL Console and Studer 2 inch Machine" plugin now, so you don't even need to do the physical clean-up.

Tod, I totally disagree. You will NEVER see cables strewn all over my studio floor. All the mics are in the locker, the stands are put away. Spare cables are coiled up and stored neatly on hangers. A cluttered space makes for a cluttered mind. Keep your space clean, keep your mind fresh. Plus, it's just SO much nicer walking into a clean, neat studio. When I was first setting my studio up, I searched for pics of other home/project studios, and so many of them looked like a collection of gear thrown together in a spare room with no plan, or thought as to the finished outcome. I vowed that mine would NEVER look like that!
It is work to keep it looking neat and fresh, but its a labor of love!

everyone?

You can get things done alot quicker with a clean workspace. Sure I picked up a couple beer cans, I left a couple to. Let me tell ya though, when the band is comeing to record I clean up a little before they get here too. My living room is a mess but my studio is clean. I hate tripping over crap. My clean up at any given time takes about 5 minutes max. An I never have to clean up cords. The stuff costs to much to have someone trip on a mic cord pulling the stand and mic over into my favorite guitar... I can't afford to replace much more that a cord or two on any given month, and I don't even want to do that.

F.S.

I am a royal slob:) That's why I have three garbage cans in the studio rooms. Thinking of adding more.

Re: everyone?

I cant wait until I'm done construction... I can get rid of the two rubbermaid garbage cans, the 1" of sawdust and peanut shells on the floor :(

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

My Pics and movies

I created some Pics and movies with my digital camera today of my studio. Basically, I have a room around 12'x20'. I've sectioned off an area at one end approx. 4.5'x12' to use as the engineering booth. I'm contemplating walling it in and mounting the speakers up in the air...putting in a window, etc. Check out the pics and movies and tell me what you think....

I'll attach a pic or two here...then give you a link to my FTP site....ftp://family.tntkemp.com/Family_Pics/Virginia/Studio/

Oops...should have edited the pictures to make the smaller and standing upright! Sorry about that!

Of course, now that I've gone back to the server and resized everything...it looks much better in the post! Live and learn!

Your stuff sounds pretty good, Jonkan!
