This is the first time I've really tried to use EQ and normalization on my vocals and I'm not quite sure how everything works yet. My problem right now is that whenever I say have a B or a P the sound it gets too loud. How do I reduce this?

The best way is to eliminate them at the source, so a pop-filter is defintely the way to go. If you have a killer track though, and can't re-record it, try using a compressor that has a side-chain tuned into the frequency of the pop (most likely around 100 Hz). It's similar to using a de-esser but at a lower frequency.

And don't get too close to the mic, either. The rule of thumb I've heard is ~12".

Good Luck!

Regarding the pop filter...

If you're really hurting for cash, a coathanger, some duct tape, and a pair of old panty hose will do the trick.

Some cheaper ones can be had for less than $10 though.
Mine was about ten bucks, has a clip-on mount and a malleable ("bendy") rod to hold the screen.
Does the trick just fine.
