My pop filter is altering the sound of my voice. I have a metal screen pop filter. I tried many positions and the pop filter sounds like it adds phase coloration. When i sing/rap on the mic without the filter it sounds like it should except i have the breath problem with the pops. I'm trying to train myself on p/b/s words. I took the metal out of the plastic loop and sang with it and it sounded normal. I think it is the plastic loop that is causing some type of coloration of the sound. Maybe, i just need a bigger pop filter. The loop is kinda small. I tried the "diy" pop filter with the metal screen and it worked perfect but i don't have a way to attach it to the gooseneck that the pop filter attaches to. I need suggestions on either a good pop filter, or either a better way to attach the embroidery ring.

I mount my home-made pop filter (panty-hose nylon stretched over a 7" emboidery hoop) to the mic stand using a carefully bent section of a metal clothes hanger and binder clips (small clip on the emboidery hoop, medium clip on the mic stand behind the mic). It actually looks pretty professional.

For temporary, just use duct tape.

I don't really like the metal filters, personally.

For long term, attatch your DIY filter to a mic clip and use a second stand.

I took the metal screen out of the pop filter and put it into the embroidery hoop. Then, i used a binder clip to clip the hoop to the gooseneck for the popfilter. Works perfect! No coloration. Like i said, it must have been that loop for that pop filter. Never seen nothin like that before. Anyway, thanks guys!

Some of you guys need to post pics of your home made Pop Filters and how you have them mounted. Althought the concept is pretty simple one, it would be interesting to see the different ideas. :)

Peace
