gimmi your mic!
hey guys,

I'd like to know which mixer/soundcard combination you'all use. Anything you wanna add would help (problems, benefits). Also, do you use digital/analog mixers and PCI/FireWire/USB interfaces?

Thanxxxxx!

I'm a budget recorder, but the combo I use works awesome. I have a behringer 6-channel mixer feeding into my Midiman PCI card via RCA cables. The distortion is really low and sometimes absent. The behringer has mic preamps, vu meter, mic gains, low bass filters, and is studio friendly with control room outs. My combo cost me about $200 and I am very pleased with it. Hope that helps.

i use a Delta Audiophile 2496 sound......

no mixer.....just standalone pres......Delta DMP2,Joe Meek VC3Q, Joe Meek MQ3, or J-Station.......

cool setups!

I have a Roland VM3100Pro 8in/out interface, which uses the Roland RPC-1 8in/out audio card. Since I am running out of channels, I am looking for a good way to upgrade.

I'm using Fender PX-22120 Mixer going from the send's to the pci Delta 44.
I'm getting some decent results now too.

Just got my Aardvark 24/96
I'll let ya know how it goes

-Yamaha 01V
-Nuendo Audiolink 96 Multiset

I really enjoy this setup, particulary the way I can monitor the musicians while recording, with the 8 digit ins in the 01V! So cool!!!

0 latency, all the fx, eq, dyn, ...all what I want :)

RME Digi9636

Just waiting on some cash flow so I can get a couple expansion cards for 16 outs to my Studiomaster analog mixer.

I use two Aardvark 24/96 units into a Samson C-Control. These are inside a high end PC where I run Sonar to record/mix. I use a Mackie Control control surface to control the system. I'm loving this combination - everything is working well for me and sounds great.

A Yamaha MG12/4 with a Delta 44.
The Yamaha is great, but the delta is SHIT

Why if i might ask? I personally thought it was the shit with the dsp and mixer thing. And since aardvark had such a good name... Please elaborate...

Heres mine

Studiomaster 16-4-2 desk with

Terratec EWS 88MT soundcard.

Use the direct outs from the studiomaster into the 8 ins on the card. Then route the 8 outs back to the mixer for a huge selection of monitoring and routing.

depends on what i'm doing..... :D ....but it all runs into an Audiophile 2496 card. haven't made the multitracker plunge yet (YET), but that's only a matter of time.

most of the time i find myself tracking my band at practices in a "live" environment. That's done through my Mackie 24*4, and then the "tape out" goes to the Audiophile 2496.

if i'm recording myself playing acoustic, i'll also use the mackie (so i can record in stereo), but i'll use my VTB-1 for vocals. I find that it loads my re38 MUCH more nicely (and sounds overall much better) than the wackie.

i've got my eye on a delta 1010 or a motu2408, but haven't been able to bring myself to pull the trigger yet. i guess mainly b/c it seems unfair to the converters to be sending it wackie-based signal. :D
