I think Eric Clapton is just OK.

For a guitarist described as "God" I'd say he's a little overrated.
 
Clapton: Are we talking acoustic or electric? He's the man on acoustic. His electric playing doesn't do much for me. Maybe it will when I'm older. :D
 
Why is Slash on the list? :confused:

I love his guitar playing/style and his solos. I think he comes up with some of the coolest stuff.
 
AH.....Santana.......went to one of his concerts a few yrs ago......wasn't all that......was really irritating,because he stopped in the middle of a cpl songs because he couldn't find the 'SWEET SUSTAIN SPOT" on the stage......so he walked around a few mins,playing,stopping......playing,stopping......till he was satisfied.......oh the huddled masses went crazy.......can we say HYPE......there are probably hundreds of better players out there ........but luck and timing are a great part of fame......

Why? I think his playing is great (nothing amazing like some other players) and his songwriting is excellent.

Tears In Heaven, Wonderful Tonight, Layla (not sure if he wrote this one), among a lot of other songs. I think he deserves being where he is. But maybe not the term "guitar god" though.

Other than his "Creem" days, all his stuff just seemed weak. IMO. ( I never did like Layla).

Clapton's alright, but he's not doing ANYTHING I can't hear in my local pub. Playing, singing, songwriting, whatever - he's good, but overrated.

BB King is severely underrated, so he can come off that list!
The Edge - FordVan got that right, although he does at least have some interesting ideas
Santana - I love his feel and the lovely sound his PRS makes, but I havn't heard enough of his stuff to comment on his repetitiveness.

I'd also like to throw Steve Vai into the mix? I can't stand his self-indulgent, bland, robotic style, what do you guys think?

ah haha... no one cares about jimmy vaughn. Cuuuus no one really does. Voted Clapton, but Im also tired about hearing about how great Jimi Hendrix was. Really great guitar player, but not what everyone makes him out to be. Not to me, anyway, and afterall, this IS subjective :)
