the stuff greg added to that first riff sends it off into crushyourheadville. :D i'm thinking we should use that at the peak of the song. elongating the 'oom pah pah' part for the vocals sounds good to me. i'd like to (some how) build the whole thing up to a peak before the end. maybe add a clean part in the beginning with some accordian over it? i'm curious to find out what obi is going to do with that trombone too.

i'm gonna try to dig a couple more parts up and rough arrange the guitar. i suck balls at arrangement so if anyone has any ideas spit em.

what do you think of starting the song with a crazy heavy metal drum fill? should i just start it clean and then make progressively more and more metal? hmmm

i haven't a clue really. this probably looks like dog fucked madness typed out but here's an arrangement idea :D

i think a cool intro would be some improvised accordion over the first half of that harmonized riff, or maybe accordion alone, swelling in up to the volume of the main track.

maybe a few stabbing power chords there (dun, dun, dun, DUN!) just before the main riff.

the oom pah pah thing (twice thru) comes in for a verse, followed by the speed picked part for a chorus

repeat the oom pah pah for another verse and speed picked part again (harmonized the second time?)

metalhead's solo (maybe over a simpler power chord version of the speed picked part)

shit i'm lost. HELP! :D

I get it. Not a bad idea at all.

my weekend filled up with rehearsals and family stuff. Wife says I spend too much damn time on HR... :o

I'll get the accordion together on Thursday night and send it out. I'll probably just send out the accordion over the two main chords of the lick, plus something over the breakdown and let y'all loop it.

OWz, PDMPV

If nobody minds too much, I'm gonna wait till the structure is finalized before I cut a bass part.... :) I'd rather do it in one swell foop...

i'm working on the rough arrangement now. i haven't been able to use my time as freely as i would have liked too over the past couple of nights. i've got about an hour to work on it tonight unless i decide to miss out on some sleep, which i'm known to do :p.

good idear, that will be fine. i know you'll come up with something bad-ass.

i sliced and diced the available parts for the rough arrangement. it sounds like a frankensteined pile of crap at the moment. :D i wanted to check with you guys for suggestions before anyone tracks anything.

intro, center guitar to be replaced with improvised accordion

0:33 first verse

1:13 chorus (may need to be longer)

1:23 second verse

2:02 guitar solo (guitars to sustain into interlude)

2:30 interlude, clean guitar (more accordion, trombone, ?)

2:54 outro

that's some gangster shit right there man. i'm on on it tomorrow for the drums dude. do you want any drums on the clean guitar part? like just a simple polka beat? or leave it? it sounds kinda cool with just the guitar by itself

So is this the final structure? Sounds good to me.
If so I'll start working on a solo. Do we want the whole 30 seconds?

the structure is completely flexible. if you want the solo progression shorter, want to play over only part of it, or completely change it, that's cool with me. i'd like to get it worked at as close as possible to being final before everyone starts tracking. i'd rather spend more time getting it right than going back over and over, retracking, etc. how many bars do you want the solo to be metalhead28? does the progression work for you?

if any of you guys have any suggestions on the structure, let's get them in there before tracking.

When does the ballad part come into it?

i'm not sure yet myself. this whole thing was spawned from a joke. zed said, "let's do it" and here we are. i don't have a clue about what the hell i'm doing. can you help? :p

i want you to do that thing you do. :D this whole thing was your idea and now we have to live up to the expectations that go with the rediculous title: political death metal polka ballad. :p

good god man. this thing isn't even written yet and i'm already sick of the guitar riffs. :D

Why don't you just get someone to sing part of it ballad style. And keep the death metal vocals in other parts?

TravisinFlorida said:
zed has suggested that too. it sounds like a plan to me. i hope dogman can do 'ballad'. :D
Get a chick to sing that part. Any females here that sing?

i'm thinking maybe after the clean guitar interlude, we can build into a 80's Power Ballad style guitar solo section (or maybe with lyrics too) before ending with the fierce double-kicker part, they way we can tie the whole "ballad" thing into it. maybe just a simple harmonized lead, i can do part of it if you want, what do you think?

sounds good to me zed. do it man!

aidnas, i've only ever talked to one female here that sings. come to think of it, isn't ms. spanky spanky german? maybe she can spout some political rubbish in german (nothing about sauerkraut!). true-eurt, whatcha say?
