Point me in the right direction?

I'm brand new to recording. I'm looking for an 8 channel audio interface that will give me the ability to expand later on via ADAT. I saw on the Soundcard Wizard on Recording Review that the Presonus Firestudio and M-Audio Profile 2626 should meet my needs.

Which do you guys think will be more reliable?

well, with the M-audio profire 2626 you will be recording in 24bit/192khz which is very high quality. i personally use the EMU 1212m which also records at 24bit/192khz but my interface only has 2 ins and 2 outs and the sound quality is GREAT. another great thing about the profire 2626 is that it is compatible with protools which is the industry standard in DAW platforms.

both interfaces also have digital ins and outs and MIDI ins and outs and are pretty much the same. the key differences are that the m-audio records in higher quality and supports pro tools.


so in my personal opinion i think you should go with the M-Audio Profire 2626

Looks like they both come recommended
However, M-Audio can do ProTools, PreSonus cant.
If you plan to use ProTools, looks like there is only 1 choice
If not, PreSonus costs less, almost a $200 difference at Sweetwater
