Plugging my amp to my computer

You need to go from the tape outs of your amp to the line ins on your computers soundcard.

You'll need a regular phono (or RCA) lead which looks like this.

Of course you'd get a better sound by micing the amp, if you want to go that way do some searching on this site.

So where would I plug it into my computer? And how much what the lead be?

Sorry if I sound like a complete dumbass, but im computer illiterate.

This is what I do.
I set the mic right up to the grill cloth, but not touching. I aim it toward the center of the speaker cone.
Run your mic cable to the "Line In" on your sound card.
Start with low volume and increase it as needed.

You'll get a nicer sound, in my opinion, by micing the amp than running it in direct as you first asked.

On the back of your PC there should be an input to the soundcard called 'line in'.

If it's two inputs (monos, one coloured red and one coloured white) then you'll need the phono lead. Phono leads vary in price depending on the quality but you can get cheapies. It's just the same type of lead you'd use to connect a CD player to a hi fi amp, nothing special.

If your PC line in is just one (stereo) input (in fact this is more likely with an integrated soundcard) you'll need a 1/4" mini jack at one end (for the PC input) and the phono connectors at the other end (for the tape outs on the amp). Again, inexpensive ones are available.

The mini jack will look like what you get on a pair of headphones, the smaller one which you'd plug into your walkman, the phono at the other end would look like they do in the pic I posted.
