plugging in the speakers

Hi everyone,
Im setting up my studio and I want to know where the optimum place to plug in my speakers is. Is it the back the computer, is it the Digital interface, is the mixing console, or do I need to get a preamp out of one of these and plug the speakers into that

You need to know what kind of speakers. Are they amplified or not? If they're amplified feed them a diet of line level signal; if they're not you need to somewhat match the impedance and power-handling capacity of the speakers with those of the amplifier you're gonna use.
