Hi all

I'm a newbie to song recording, mainly for recreational purposes. I compose sometimes and I like to sing too, so I tend to record my songs into the computer.

Im wondering is there any freeware on the net that lets ya arrange your songs? Like with drums and all? Right now Im using Audacity, its quite cool, but doesnt really let ya arrange. And I dont wanna spend a bomb on those pro softwares cos Im only doing it for recreation.

Pls help, thanks! :)

Sorry man, but you'll have to be more specific. What do you mean by "arrange"?

you mean like free daw/midi software?

if you wanna boot up linux you can get a TON of stuff free..
check out agnula.org, if you set that up you can get lots of free midi software, drum machines, audio editors, multitrack recording software. the works.. only problem is, and it was a big problem for me, its complicated and no vst or directx plugin support that i know of... they use LADSPA plugins. i've used it.. if you wanna use your computer to write songs with and record as you go along its a good option.. lots of midi stuff with it (rosegarden 4) but i never got into that really.

theres also a free pro tools out there if.. once again.. you have the right OS to support it.. win9x i believe? and i THINK its a fully functional toned-down pro tools with a track limit on it.

...

theres some free stuff out there if you search around..
typing "free daw" into google yielded me this link
http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/

if you got a mac i'm sure you can find stuff for that..

you can't get pro gear without pro money.. but theres a lot of options out there, more than i can name here. if you don't need the pro stuff.. you just gotta dig it up.

hope i helped.. not sure if this is what you're asking for.
