Help,
I have a dell with a pentium 4, basically your basic desktop with probably the basic sound card that was needed. I have usually recorded with a keyboard, and a sequencer. I would like to add guitars and vocals by use of the pc. Realized that the standard sound card given with the pc package is not sufficient. What would you suggest that I need to get started with sound cards, recording software and the most efficient way to use them. Please keep in mind that I am cheap lol or rather dont have a big budget. P.S. I have a quality self powered mixer to supply a decent line out signal.

Go to www.zzsounds.com and click on computer music then audio/midi interfaces. You can either get a usb interface and keep your soundcard, or get a pci interface that has the inputs you want, you could also get a firewire interface, but that would be a lot more. The more inputs, the higher the price. Some of them come with software, and if not you could get something like Power Tracks which is only $30.

ooook here we go. audiophile 24/96 soundcard. $99 bucks. i own it, i use it. not a problem. i would also suggest not using the line out on your powered mixer and get a yamaha mg10/2. also the $99 bucks. http://www.americanmusical.com/ now this place has a easy payment plan thing and i take full advantage of this thing when i do it. i love it.
