Ani is new to homerecording.com, but she has been involved in music and a presence on the web for many years. She’s smart, pretty, funny and has a lot to offer as an artist and all around cool gal. She has a beautiful voice to match her beautiful spirit and beautiful face. (Note: her Tweetie avatar bears no resemblance to her actual likeness). :)

Ani sings, plays piano/keyboards and records with both analog and digital gear. She’s also an accomplished photographer. Because of her many interests she will likely be active in other forums on HR, but she has joined to be part of the Analog Only forum in particular.

Ani created and maintains musicbizbuzz.net, an extensive resource for all things artsy. ;)

Good site Ani. I see you've got some Moses links up there. Cool dude. I've read a couple of his books and spoke to him a couple times via email.

You'll find that we are some of the nicest (despite a comment or two above:D) and most helpful bunch out-there so don't be a stranger and come and visit us as often as you like, OK?:)

:D It would be suitable for a forum named Ana Log, now wouldn't it? :cool: Unfortunately, though, I'm stuck with one of those really easy names that get mispronounced and misspelled on a routine basis. :(

Thanks everyone,

Beck is a very close friend of mine and I trust his judgment in people. He says you guys are a great bunch of folks that are both friendly and knowledgeable. I look forward to hanging out...

I'm in the process of getting my studio set back up.... well, I'm finishing up the flooring so that I "can" get my studio set back up. As far as musical interests; I have an analog Yamaha MT8X 8 track recorder, a digital Roland VS880-EX 8track hard disk recorder, a DAW equipped with Sonar 6 PE, and then I play keyboards, write songs, and sing. I've been involved in some online collaborations and write a lot of solo material. It's been awhile since I've been active, so I'm looking forward to getting my feet wet again.

As for other hobbies, photography tends to be right up there with my musical interests; competitive in many ways. I also do some web design and play around quite a bit with graphic editing programs.

It seems that females tend to be outnumbered among the masses of persons in record engineering. Most people think of females involved in the MI as being the face in front of the camera rather than the one behind the scenes. I love to sing and write, but I hate to perform... if that makes any sense to you.

Tim has a lot to offer with his vast knowledge of recording technology.
 
I uploaded a new avatar, but it hasn't appeared yet. I'm posting to see if that's what needs to be done for it to appear.
 
Wow, not only did the avatar "not" appear; I went from being a "Registered User" to a "Newbie" :mad::eek::rolleyes::(:p:o

Granted, I "am" a newbie to these forums, but by no means am I a "newbie" to the music scene. ;)

This too shall pass... :)

I remember having the same feelings when I first signed up here in '03. Don't worry, people will figure it out as they get to know you. It really is only in reference to membership here. Same with rep points and all that... you can't tell how long someone has been in music/recording or how much someone knows about anything by post count, titles and rep.

I know all about you... that's a good start. ;)

Yeah, you gotta get your post count up to a number I can't quite remember. The "New Rep Point Thread" is perfect for padding your count.

Totally...its too bad too. I think it has a lot to do with the way men and women are wired generally, but that doesn't mean there should be limits imposed least of all in our minds...we are want to stereotype and predispose. We all do it IMHO. But its not a gender thing and shouldn't be anyway.

Anyway, I've been involved in a number of forums and I quickly become an occasional lurker because people are just...rude...judgemental or elitist. I want to be somewhere where I can ask the dumbest question and not be scoffed at, or come in desperation with a critical issue and get help and to respond in kind when able; somewhere where there is activity and energy around the interest of art and analog recording gear whether it be prduction maintenance or whatever...and generally anything else even remotely related. :) I can say that almost nearly without exception that has been the case the entire past year I have been a part of this online community thanks to cjacek. Like I said Tim has been a big part of that too.

So as a "regular" around here I think I speak for other "regulars" as above in welcoming with open arms...its not about somebody's opinion of whether or not you've met their invisible approval threshhold of whatcha done or watcha know or watcha have. Everybody has something to contribute and I suspect you have a considerable amount to contribute so we look forward to getting to know you.

Is your MT8X the "II" version or the original?

The mixer section on either is a little more intuitive than the Tascam 488 decks IMHO.

I have had and have a number of Yamaha products and I have never been disappointed with features/price/quality on any Yamaha products. Currently have an 01X and an i88x. My oldest son gets a lot of use out our Yamaha upright piano, and Yamaha was and continues to be a pioneer in the area of percussion especially field drums. I have a set of quad-toms, a 26" bass and a field snare made by them. Really great stuff.

I also used to have a Roland VSR-880...the rackmount version of your VS-880 right? The menu structure was terrible on the VSR-880 since the user interface was limited on a 2U rackmount unit until you got used to it, and even then it was cumbersome, but in all honesty it made great sounding recordings.

Yeah, some people can be really rude whenever they have their own agenda and yours doesn't jive with theirs.

I have the original MT8X. I also have the Yamaha i88x that you mention, although I have to admit, I've never really been able to capitalize on the full benefit of using it. My son tore my studio down right as I was getting everything configured and, throughout the process of moving and getting re-established, I've never set it back up. I still have the necessary driver saved to hard disk, and I kept the notes that walked me through the set up that was provided by a Yamaha representative that was a member of another music forum that I frequented. I'm looking forward to getting everything back online again to where I can start recording again. I have a LOT of analog tapes that I'd like to get burned onto CD's, and I'd like to weave the analog and digital worlds together.

The Roland VS880EX that I have is actually not a rack mount unit; it's a desktop stand alone digital hard disk recorder. I've got some older pictures of some of my studio gear, but hopefully I'll have my new recording area set up before long so that I can take new pics.
