Hi,

I have a Fostex A-8 and the 350 mixer. I need to be able to burn songs to CD but that is my missing piece. Can you recommend a low cost CD burner. I searched the music stores online and the ones they had were $500+. Are there any lower cost options?

I'd prefer to have an external CD Burner and not have to use my computer if possible.

Thanks!

Mark

The M-Audio 2496 Audiophile is a decent sound card, I think about $150 or less. Use that with a conventional PC w/ burner. You can run Linux too and get teh whole suite (e.g. 64Studio) for free DAW and everything.

Hi,

Unless you go second hand off eBay, probably not. I use a Fostex CR500 master recorder and it's a good thing with many uses including being able to burn 96/24 BWF's. Well over $500 but.

Just be careful if you go the used eBay route. I tried buying two different models and ended up with non-working decks in both cases. I lost the cost of return shipping for each, which in the end was like $50.

you can go to stereo supply houses and get one for a little over $200.
A quick search found thiese at a place I regularly buy stuff.

I also don't do any of my burning on the 'puter since I don't do any recording on the 'puter. I have Teac and Pioneer CD recorders. They work fine except that for home audio recorders like these you'll have to use 'music' CDs.
They won't record to data discs.
I assume there's a little bit of code on the 'music' discs to allow the recorder to recognize them.
No biggie, they don't really cost much more.

This sounds like what I am looking for. But I've searched and I can't seem to find any. Can you let me know what stores you are referring to (or send me a message).

If I go out to buy a CD Burner, are there specific things I need to look for? Any features that must be on the unit for it to work for this application?

I appreciate all the feedback.

Thanks!

if you do a search look for CD recorders rather than CD burners. I bet you can find 'em even cheaper, I just went to JR 'cause it's in my favorites.

nothing special to do ..... they just take two rca inputs .... a stereo mix.
