I have a presonus firepod and I was working on a recording two days ago in cubase and a message came up saying no sound device connected. Then I looked at the firepod and the LED had turned from blue to red and then the unit shut off completely and won't turn back on. I wasn't tracking anything at this point, I wasn't even touching the firepod or using it really, it was just on and then turned off. If anyone has any idea what may have happened or how to fix it I would greatly appreciate a response. I just finished paying 75 bucks to get my eureka fixed and I don't feel like dishing out another 75 repair fee.

Thanks,
-Barrett

Mmm, running out of sync happens from time to time, but if you can´t turn it on there´s must be something wrong with the AC...

Can you borrow a Presonus AC adapter as the most simple test you can try?

Yeah, that sounds like Presonus gear. Is there any burning smell from the unit? I had one catch on fire before. Check the output of the wallwart (if it has one).

I am not familiar with Firepod but you think the name suggests...anyway...

I had a similar experience with my RME units once and it was the firewire card in the PC. After that I went to PCI express and never looked back.

Wow I just typed PC and I guess I haven't been here for a while cause now this place is riddled with gear pimp everything.

The good news is that Presonus has a very good repair policy, and they fix things really fast. :D

Not familiar with the unit but is there a place for a fuse? Do you have a multimeter? I would check the output on the power supply, check the receptacle that it was plugged into. These are all pretty obvious but could be suspect.

There's no burning smells, no fuses, no problems with the power cable. There really is no apparent reason this unit should not work, however I will surrender to the final ultimatum and pay the 75 dollar repair fee(plus the 30 bucks to ship it down there). Thanks for the suggestions. You just can't trust technology I guess.

Thanks,
