Please Help With Teac 3440 Problem

Guys, I'm hoping someone can help me.

I have a Teac 3440 with a wierd problem. Whenever I press the Sync button , two of the meters slam and there is a loud humming sound. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Sound like a grounding issue.

This is an A3440? Does it have separate plug-in rec/play amplifier cards?

If it does, take cards for the two channels that have the issue and swap them with the channels that don’t and see if the problem follows the cards, or if it stays the same.

Does this happen with no connections in or out of the machine?
