okay, can anyone explain

1.the mpc, and it's purpose.(what would be some software programs that perform the same jobs?).

2.synth rack, what's the basic equipment it contains.(what would be apart of a computer rack to compare?).

3.triton, motif workstations.(what software programs would compare?). i know they offer a lot of sounds, but with sample cd's can the software be just as good or better because you can always expand it? or for any other reasons?).

4. vintage racks, are they just for effects? what are their purposes?

if anyone can help me out with a 2nd grade explanation of as many of the questions i have posted above i would really apreciate it. thanx.

Why did you bump this without an answer?

Maybe he's curious as to the same questions and he'd like them answered for himself aswell. And hoping it will be seen and finally answered this time.

A vintage rack?

You mean a rack full of vintage tube-based processors?

Or a rack full of modern (both tube and semi-conductor based) equipment that is still used by folks working with analog tape? Or both?

The purpose of either is to improve, remove, dynamically and spatially alter, and/or color the sound.

They may also contain rack mounted burners, tape decks, mixers, you name it. Anything less than 19" wide and has ears could be found in vintage and not so vintage a rack.

A synth rack would contain rack-mounted synth modules. Synthesizers with no keys that are controlled via MIDI from a controller keyboard or other triggering device.

there are apps and plugs called " softsamplers " that will in theory perform the same duties as an MPC, but in reality, its not as easy to " hit" the pads at the right time in software
