Please explain

I have been looking at the chords to REM's All the way to Reno and in the chorus they are shown as
Bb C V111
You know what you are

What the hell is V111 ? I don't get latin, can someone help?

It just means that the C is played in the 8th position, a.k.a a barre chord played with the root note on the 8th fret. Any time you see Roman numerals, that is theoretically where your index finger should go, as opposed to the normal place you might play the chord (C, for example, would normally be played as the 32010 thing).
