The songwriting to me sounds solid. The song structure, lyrics, melody and arrangement are all up there with what's on the radio. So that's something.
I recommend the Pat Pattison "Writing Better Lyrics" book. That really helped me to improve. The book has lots of writing exercises, including "object writing" which I did for a couple of months and I really recommend that.
I agree with a previous commenter, the biggest criticism I have of your songwriting is that it's too cliche. You can say something that's been said before, but you have to say it in a new way.
I think most of my tricks for finding topics wouldn't work for you since I love to write about super arcane topics, and you're looking for a record deal, so I can't help you there! Good luck!
