i just upgraded my mbox to a Digi002R for the sole purpose of the ability to record each mic/drum on its own track and to utilize better pres on the way in than my crappy yamaha mg10 mixer.

i also just upgraded my ludwig accents snare with a chad smith pearl snare.

this is my first crack at the micing and mixing with the digi200r. the mix is pretty dry.

let me know....thanks

you really think so? cool. so i should stop tweaking it? i dont want to screw it up lol

i first used the "2 stick" method of postioning the overheads but that wasnt working for me so i just tried to get the two 603s as high as possible which wasnt really that high because its an attic ceiling. that seems to open up the sound better. you really do learn a lot reading these forums. that chad smith snare seemed to really improve my sound too.

Muffled sounding. Could use a little crispness if you know what I mean. Snare is to thuddy/muddy, needs more crack!

ok, i changed a couple of things including some adjustments to the snare. i also changed to a felt beater to smooth out the kick.

let me know...thanks

Yeah, good job for a first try. I'd say to put a little more "ass" on the kick drum. Boost some 80-90 on the EQ, and maybe a little top end on it as well.

i think that sounds awesome. what are the dimensions of the room you recorded in? it sounds of good size and resonance.

Much better than the first one. IMO anyway. The kick is fine if that is what you are looking for.

In my opinion(which is worth about .10) :)
The kick lost something from the first recording but everything else sounds great!

thanks guys...i think i need to just turn up the bass drum a bit. i wont know for sure until i mix in guitars, bass..etc.

the room is probably the least desireable room to record in but i acousticly treated it to kill the reflections and i think it helped a lot. ill get some pics up.
