hi Strat and B.S.
thanks for taking the time to check out my tunes. im glad you like the songs as that is most important to me. i know the recordings could be better and like the rest of us im trying to improve with every song i record. it definately helps to get feedback in forums such as this. i make mentals notes of whats been said and refer to them as i record the next song.

Re: Ty Tabor and the Korg. Mainly Ty does mastering work, when his schedule allows. He does some mixing work too. Yes, it was great to have him help on this track. I'm a big fan and also have corresponded with Ty off and on for many years since the days when I used to run a King's X newsletter. btw..I bought his blue Yamaha pacifica custom (that he used on the Tapehead album) in a charity auction he ran a while back and used it on th ebacking tracks for the song. The lead stuff was on my old Strat.

Re: the Korg. Its a D1600. I am very pleased with it..I am not the most advanced person at understanding hwo to do recordings but I am learning fast and the Korg is pretty easy to operate and get some nice quick results. Recommend it.

thanks
Robert

Thanks for the heads up...glad you checked out the tune and liked it. Yes, it certainly isn't KX sounding. I recor blues tracks mainly, though I also have a parallel set of music I enjoy doing which is definitely more rock/KX influenced.

hey robf, I would like to check it out if you feel like posting it.. I can't believe I'm speaking to someone who speaks to Ty!! :D

Listened to "Next Time" ...

Real nice playing. You are using some crazy chords in there especially during the breaks. The music right at those places kind of reminded me of Steely Dan for some reason ... though the song itself is nothing like them.

I liked the vocals. My only feedback -- imhop -- may be that the drums sounded kind of buried in the mix. I couldn't really make them out most of the time.

Other than that this sounded very good and I liked the song itself.

Nice job! :)

Love to post it but my recent stuff isn't yet ready for 'airing' I'm afraid. I have gotten into a bad habit of nearly finishing recording half a dozen songs. I'll post them here when they are done...as always I appreciate the feedback.

Ty is great, have you checked out the Jughead CD yet?

Thanx for all of your thoughts and critiques. i appreciate you taking the time to give me your thoughts. They have been very helpfull. I will let you all know when i post some new songs.

hey rob
i'll look forward to hearing what you do in a different style as i enjoyed the blues tune very much. theres a song on my mp3 site called The Low which is a rocker but my guitarist D King puts down some pretty tastey blues licks that you might enjoy. he has that "strat" sound much like yours. ''''''''''btw: if you get a sec drop me an email, got a question for ya.
take care

Thanks, I'll let you know when I get the other stuffed done and on MP3.
I checked out the Low...great track! Really like it. I see what you mean about the bluesy lines, great Strat sound. Was he going through a class A tube amp? I also really liked the backing guitars and some of the open chord stuff happening before the 'dont leave your love behind' lines...reminded me of King's X a little.

I'll email you ...

hey rob
