Hi,

Newb here.

I'm doing some research on playing e-drums through BFD2 VST using ASIO drivers for low latency WHILE playing youtube videos or other multimedia on the background on Windows 7 64 bit with a USB audio interface(preferrably 2.0).

I've heard that ASIO drivers for Windows sacrifice Multiclient(multiple apps at the same time) playback for lower latency and that very FEW drivers actually support multiclient. My assumption would be then that the ones that do DO NOT offer very good latency. I'm looking for hardware/software in the 10 ms to 20 ms range of latency.

What makes me doubt the statement above is the fact that Mac hardware and drivers can in fact play BFD2 with an ekit input and youtube AT THE SAME time with what I asume is the Coreaudio driver technology. I've tested this myself.

At the same time common sense tells me that if can playback the BFD2 through the external audio interface WHILE I use my laptops (windows 7 64 bit) onboard soundcard to play everything else I could use a line I/O connection from the onboard soundcard to the External USB audio card playing ASIO and mix it all in to the headphones. Is that possible?

I am looking at audio interfaces on the 150-250 range. What do you think of the following:
ESI - U46XL
RME Babyface(OUT of the range but for comparison's sake)
M-Audio Fasttrack/Fasttrack Pro
Roland Quad Capture
Behringer UCA202 (out of range(cheap) but it could be a proof of concept)

Thank you in advance.

I found in other forums that you can use DIrect Monitoring to mix the line input on the external Audio Interface with the ASIO playback.

Do you know any Decent ASIO Audio interface with good Direct Monitoring in the 200 USD range?

Thank you.
