Hey guys, I finally got my firepod and cubase SX3 set up. I'm brand new to the computer recording thing, but have some general recording experience. I can generally figure stuff out by messing with it. However when I set up the device as the presonus ASIO driver I didn't know what to do with the section that lists all the channel inputs so I didn't touch that.

I tried recording and it worked. but on playback in the headphones it only came out of the left side. I recorded with one mic, stereo recording I think. Maybe if I do this again I can give some screenshots to illustrate what I'm talking about. Anyhow...why would it be playing back on one side and how do I fix this?
(Note..the headphones (HD280) were heavy on the left side when listening to an mps on another computer.. I have had this experience before too. I guess the left side just tends to be heavier?)

Thats what I figured I just couldn't understand why when I looked in the mixer panel it showed a signal being sent on two channels. Then again, I'm not very familiar with the layout of the program yet.

Can you post some screen shots like you said? I can help you out!

You record in stereo with 2 mics. Try it in mono.

Thinking back a bit....even if I recorded in stereo mode with one mic and panned to the center, wouldn't the sound still balance center?

That is what I thought too. I have Cubase LE and cannot figure out how to pan center. I adjust the only thing I can find that is for balance and it just stays on one side. I can switch from R to L but cannot get both. I will try the mono though and see if that works. :)

when you record in stereo you cant pan the left channel any further right, in stereo panning kinda just turns up and down the volume of the left and right channels. youve got a stereo track with audio on the left at the moment. panning the track to centre means left is at 100% that is, the recording is coming out the left and right is at 100% and what youve recorded on the right (ie nothing) is coming out the right. Panning more left wont do anything as it will turn down the right channel which has nothing and panning right will only make the left quieter. If you have one source, you record mono and pan it where you like. Its pretty simple. hope that helps (and is right. correct me if it isnt)
