Got a question. When I record in CubaseSX I make a really nice hot level, (you know, like right before you clip). Anyways, when I play it back after I record it is always about 3-6db (cant quite remember) quieter. I have a Delta 44, not sure if that is what is causing it or is if it in Cubase. The only thing I can guess is that cubase automaticly does this for "overhead" ?

Are you noticing this on a stereo channel? If so, check the Stereo Pan Law in the project settings. If it is set to -6, you might notice that playback is quieter.

Other than that, I don’t think Cubase should do anything to lower the volume.

Well it was the stereo pan law, have no idea why, but hey, whatever works:)

Yeah, sorry. Pan law does affect mono channels. I don't know what I was thinking.

I prefer the -3dB setting because that means the volume is perceived as being constant no matter where you pan the track. The audio will have constant power.

If you turn pan law off (0 dB), then there is no compensation as you pan the track to the middle. This means the track will sound louder when panned to the middle than when panned to either side.
