Pink Floyd Style song, looking for general feedback

Hi there -

So far it sounds like you have almost got enough material to make two verses, if you confine the power chords to the second verse. There isn't much there to mix yet, so the composition should be a greater concern to you at this point than a mix.

That said, it is a promising start, and I hope to hear it again when it is a little more developed. :thumbs up:

That's a promising original. Keep going.

The bass could come up in the mix, and the drums (snare and kick) are very room-reverby (but its a boxy reverb sound). I wouldn't worry about the /mix' at this point - mixing is for when you've got all the parts laid down like Supercreep said, composition first.

I think the vibe is right, but I agree with mjbphotos about the "room" sound of the drums. That's not sitting quite right to me with regards to the Pink Floyd sound.

Also, the rhythm guitar is pretty consistently rushing the arpeggios a bit almost throughout.

But yes, it's a promising start.

Really cool man. I think the acoustic can sit back further with a little less attack. Maybe finger it instead of picking at it. I think what would really set this song off is a nice Gilmour style lead through-out

I just sat back and listened because I knew it was going to be soothing! ;)
Yeah, finish up the song. Its coming along very nicely! Curious what the vocals are going to be like.

I'm usually finicky and picky with vocals, I think that if a song doesn't have great/killer vocals it can ruin it completely. No matter how good the instrumental quality is.
Never heard you sing but I have a good feeling it won't disappoint. ;)

cheers

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. I'm planning on making this into a 4 song project. It was going to be instrumental but I may add vocals. I'm not a vocalist myself though.

REVERB: Your drums need some reverb...something a little larger. The piano part, too. Find a big convolution IR and just let it work it's magic.
GUITARS: Love the clean guitar tone. The distortion is a bit much when it comes in, but your ears get used to it. Acoustic has a great sound! :)
OTHER: Maybe some Leslie on the drone sound.
Excellent stuff. Good luck with the project.
