Feedback on this heavy metal track

hey guys,
Looking for feedback on this heavy metal mix. Its instrumental. I mixed this using some new techniques so its a bit of an experiment. I'm trying to get it close to a certain sound (see reference track below). Let me know how close this matches up to the style i'm going for. Thanks.

Sorry, missed this.

Guitars way too loud and grating! Way too loud. Sounds overmastered too. In the later part when the guitars drop out, it sounds better. Nice bass tone. Too much splashy stuff going on with the cymbal.

Its an extreme metal song so its supposed to be very guitar and drum heavy. I'll take a look at improving the cymbals though. I hear the splahsyness. I may end up turning the guitars down as well. Did you compare it to the reference track I posted?
