A cool bass on a very cool song, Ihave to listen to the track again.

cheers.

Thanks Nakatira. Your damn song has been stuck in my head for the last 3 days!!!

I should point out that the Ricky was not used on 'Pictures of You'. I used my J-bass with a very special first-time trick. Will elaborate upon request.

J-bass as in Fender Jazz bass, thats a solid nr two in the line.
I love the sound of it, we used for a few recordings recently.

please elaborate.. :)

I showed youre tune to a friend of mine today, and he though it rocked so I`m writing his behalf.

Naka`s Imagianry friend: YOUR song ROCKS big time... :D

Yes, it's a Fender Jazz. I'm afraid I don't quite understand the second half of that first sentence, but I love the sound of my J-bass too!

The little trick: You must have noticed how stacatto the bass notes are played. We sort of wanted to make my bass part approach it more like a Stand-up bass. After a little experimentation, we ended up shoving a bunch of those round cymbal stand felts under the strings and up against the bridge! There was enough in there that it actually changed my string length and I had to re-tune! But it made the strings really, really dead; no sustain. When I played, I didn't lift my left hand off the fret, or kill the vibration with my right, it just sounded that way. After that, we triple tracked it. It doesn't sound like a stand-up really, but I think it sounds pretty cool.

Your`e damn right it sounds cool, it reminds me a bit of the sound I heard pn a Uriah heep album called Looka at your self, track I wanna be free.
Very cool indeed.

ps What I ment in the sentence; J-bass as in Fender Jazz bass, thats a solid nr two in the line.

was this; In the leauge of bass guitars Rickenbacker leads by miles but Fender J-bass comes in a very nice second place.

my fave basses 1 rickenbacker, 2 jazzbass, 3 prescission.

my dream bass; :D :D :D

Jebus that thing must weigh 40 pounds!!

Incanus's bass used to be white. I call it "the tooth". I'm glad to see it's still kickin'.

Man, I'd love to have one of those things! Can't imagine wearing one for an entire long gig, though. . .

Nakatira, I see what you mean now.

I think I rank my Rick and by J-bass side by side at #1.

They both can do things the other cannot, and they both do them well.

Anyway this thread is getting a bit long now, but we were talking about bass, so I couldn't resist!!

Thank you everyone for making Supercreep and I feel welcome, and at home, here!!!

Who the hell is Jebus? It's not like s and b are very close together on the keyboard! So it couldn't have been Jesus.

I think it's his cousin, Jebus Cripes. Son of Gosh. From the church of Holy Moly. I hope I don't go to Heck for saying all this.

most excellent my friend, :D

Now I wasn't just posting this to poke fun at you guys, but also to emphasize how much your sound is larger-than-life. I just envision bad attitudes, clothes, and even worse haircuts. Hahaha! But trust me when I say this is a compliment because the music really gives me that rock star vibe.

Someone should start a thread on what we all think each other's bands look like... It's like hearing radio personalities and then seeing 'em for the first time. I worked in radio so I should know. :)
