Can someone explain to me about phasing? I've seen things like, use a top and bottom snare mic, but reverse the phase, phasing problems, etc. What exactly is it?

I have posted a fair bit about this. First of all, you must understand the difference between phase and polarity. Phase is a time issue. Polarity is a (for lack of a better term) electronic directional issue.

Phase cancellations occur when two signals sum in such a way as to reduce the signal level at a frequency. It will almost always also increase the frequency at other frequencies. Phase interrelations are quite complicated. I have some pictures in the links which follow which may be helpful. Polarity is often confused with polarity, because both concepts are usually taught using sine waves to explain the concept. This makes the interrelations easy to see and understand, but it creates a false similarity between the two concepts. Sine waves do not exist in nature, and the complex waves react VERY differently than sine waves. I have illustrations in the following threads.

Polarity is an issue of which direction (positive or negative) the electrical signal (and therefore the speaker in or out) goes first. This is an electrical issue, where as phase is an issue in both electrical and acoustic arenas.

BTW, you do not have a "phase" switch on your console. No one does. You have a polarity switch (if you have one, whatever they call it). Polarity is easy to change. Phase is not.
