Phantom power question

After turning off phantom power, how long is a good time to wait before shutting down the pre amp and unplugging the mic?

When I used to use a Mackie, there was an indicator light that would fade after about a minute or two.

I always just waited 3 or 4 seconds. I don't really know. Hope I'm not screwing something up. Good question...

One other thing I always do is to turn down my gains on the other gear before I shut off any 48 or mics. Just seemed like a good idea. don't know if it's necessary...
