hi all
Im recording a track with a guiro, cowbell, cabassa and vibraslap in it......what would you suggest as a good microphone choice and placement. I can use 57, 414, KM87 c3000's etc....

Why not experiment and see what sounds the best?

I wold definitely use a condenser mike rather than a dynamic, just because things will be a bit more crisp sounding.

I agree that for the items you mentioned I would start with a condensor. I've actually had some good results with a C3000 on percussion. The C3000 tends to be fairly hyped in the high end which seems to work well with hand percussion.

Actually, the discontinued, really crappy dynamic shure A-10 sound really good on shakers. Prolly cost you about 10 bucks or so ;)
