I need a replacement PCI card that sports SPDIF(preferably coax and toslink both) out and giga functionality.

It's going to replace an Audigy 2 Platinum. I've been trying to get these two products working via SPDIF (Audigy SPDIF OUT to the 1616M) and have finally given into simply buying another unit so I can find out where the problem actually is.

I'm looking to spend the least possible, and the only unit so far that I think fits the bill is the Audiophile 2496.

Any other recommendations on a card that is known to have solid SPDIF performance supplying clock?

Psuper!

I use an Audiophile 2496 with Gigastudio - it works perfectly.

Have you used it's SPDIF out sync'd to another device? That's my biggest concern, that the clock will not be solid enough for the 1616m to sync to (assuming the 1616m is working correctly).

I figure if I get another soundcard and the same problem exists, it would have to be the 1616m that has the problem syncing up to external clock. So I want to be certain the SPDIF out functionality of another card works flawlessly.

Yes, I use the spdif out to record from Gigastudio into Sonar (using spdif in on a Seasound Solo interface). The clock works fine - I have no problems doing this.
