Here is the actual set-up i will have - ....Abit KV7 KT600 ...

I'm not a big fan of the VIA chipsets. I prefer the NVideas- There were documented problems with VIA and certain recording sound cards a while back, but i dont recall exactly which VIA chip set was the problem. I'm pretty sure it was specific to an M-Audio card.

ha- sorry that has nothing to do wiht your power supply question- but others seam to have that covered for ya

I just got a P4 2.8 GHz 800MHz FSB and an Asus P4S800. I am using it with a Zalman fan/heatsink and an M-Audio Delta 44. I have had 0 problems. And the Zalman fan is very quiet. Its my darn casefans that are too loud. I need to get some panaflo's.

My pc has been built and runs very smoothly, apart from the power supply which is too loud. I am taking the power supply back and will purchase a zalman instead. Thanks for all your replies.
