Pay to get your song performed/recorded/mixed/mastered

In Nashville the songwriters rarely sing or play on the demos of their songs. I don't know what the prices are now, but when I lived there songwriters would pay $500.00 for three songs. The songs were recorded by studio musicians and singers. That price included everything but mastering. I imagine the price is still about the same. There were also guys that had their own studios and could play every instrument who would do it even cheaper. The singer's charged around $50.00 per song.
Pretty sure the prices are much higher now. (That or there are a lot more scammy studios these days.)
I'm basing this on my frequent trolling of the Nashville Kickstarter page: Discover Projects » Nashville / Funding — Kickstarter

"I need $5000 to record my EP!" seems to be the baseline these days.

Ido, you seem to have found yourself a pretty good deal based on those numbers! You should jump on that opportunity! :D

Lol. Yeah, "Ok so I was at McDonalds and had a song idea so I scribbled it on a happy meal receipt. It goes A, C, D, A, C, D#, D. Okay, here's my money, play it and record it."

Hey, that's 'Smoke on the Water' in A instead of the original G! Call the lawyers! :D

That's what I'm wondering and what I figured. They'd have to sing or hum or whatever and get someone else to figure it out. Then what? I'm assuming the players would have to get a ton of leeway to do whatever with it, or it's a shitload of trial-and-error. Is this what you're hearing in your head? Is this? How about this? Lol. What a nightmare.

Yeah. I once came across a guy that did something like this over the Internet. He had it set up in stages. You would send him anything you were capable of recording on your own (he wouldn't use it of course) to give him the best idea of what the song needed to sound like and give him a description of the sound you wanted (it supposed to me like heavy and Metallica-ish or pop-y like Spears or something) even if it was just a melody. He would then send you a quick musical demo of what you wanted--he would only repeat this 3 times if you weren't happy with it. After it's all lined out he would record it for real and have you record your own vocals and send him the raws OR you could even use one of their studio vocalists and do almost nothing for yourself except buy the rights to a song you put almost no work into... It's a real thing.

Another way to go would be to get some tracks recorded by individual people i.e. you be the project manager and DIY producer and select individual players or engineers as needed. I would personally feel much more comfortable doing it that way then paying a hefty sum to someone you don't know. Of course if you know the team, and feel confident that they are delivering the goods, than that's another story. But for 16k I would want to understand exactly what kind of gear the tracks were being recorded to, who the musicians on the session would be, if they ever played together before, listen to past recordings, ask about guarantees, etc.

If you're going to spam your services with every post....you won't last on HR.

There's a classified/for sale forum here for that....the rest of the forums are for audio/music discussion, not for spamming.

Look man, nobody is trying to spam. The title of this thread is pay to get your song performed/recorded/mixed/mastered.. I'm not saying that anyone has to use my service or that it's even a good idea in this case. However, I am suggesting that online sessions are a new option that someone producing an album (facing 16k in possible costs) may wish to know about. Is that really spam?
