patching

Just a simple question about patching. Bassically i just want to check im doing this right!

Ill be using a patchbay with switchable modes so its easy to alter anything in future.

-to patch my insert points ill need the patchbay to be normalized?
-to patch my soundcard ins out it wants to me parrellel yes?
-outboard gear parellel?
