Wow! This place has really fucking died. I saw almost everyone I know lurking in this thread at one point, and only 3 people actually posted something? Sad.

(I realize nobody's going to read this edit but me, but I posted it anyway.....)

PAIN BY NUMBERS

Sounds great, mix is right on the money. My only suggestion (and this is very nit-picky): I'd consider shortening the intro by 8 measures. Excellent production all the way around.

Thanx a lot David.

You're absolutely right about the intro, except that I had it shorter and I found it just needed those extra 4 bars to establish the groove that it changes to for the verses. I actually spent time trying it a few different ways and really tried to not have those extra 4 bars, but I kept going back to the way it is now. I'll leave it like this for now, but I know why you mentioned it. Thanx man. :)

Superb chorus.
The harmony vocal is super tight and effective.
Aggressive playing that sounds excellent.
The delivery of & instrument support for "So twist that knife in my back and pay no mind to my heart attack" is exemplary.

Sounds great Rami. The only I'd suggest is bump the wide rhythms up a hair. I'd say this is up there with your best stuff - writing, performance, sounds, and mix..

Awesome man. Thanx a lot, Greg. I'll bring those guitars up a bit.

After the discussion I had with myself in the other thread, I ended up removing the the EQ on my overheads and taking the compressor off the snare. I hope it helped. I feel they're a little fuller.

Thanx!

Hey Rami. Finally got round to giving this a listen. Sorry for the delay!

Sounds great. Lovely space in the mix as ever. Your drums are sounding just the way I like them again - the snare really pops. If I was to suggest anything, I think I'd like to piano in the chorus to play a counterpoint melody rather than following the main melody, but it sounds great as it is. Good stuff as ever!

HAHA! Someone actually dug this up!!! That's funny, especially after editing my OP last week. :D

Thanx a lot Johny. Actually, the piano is not following the melody. It is playing in between the vocals for the choruses, except for the (last) line at the end of each chorus. Thanx for listening, dude. :)

Not sure what that was about, I don't have as much time for this forum at the moment so must have missed something. I saw you'd posted this a while ago but dug it up today when I had time to give it a listen.

Cool man, I appreciate that.

This is like a re-release. "Smoke on the Water" wasn't a hit until they re=leased it again a few years later. That's what's going on here. :D

I'm thinking "how did I miss this", but realized I made a comment in another thread somewhere. I'm lost.

None the less, sounds great. I've been listening to it for the past week or more. And like I said somewhere else, my kid likes yours over mine.

Yeah, it's because I posted the instrumental version first, which everyone and their Grand Ma commented on. Once I finished it with vocals, I started a new (this) thread. :)

Yeah, and Taurus wasn't a hit until Led Zep re-released it as Stairway :D

I guess sometimes tunes are just slowburners on here! Everything sounds well balanced and crisp here as usual Rami - well written and well performed. The only thing I found kind of unsatisfying was the piano line in the chorus - mainly because it just follows the melody. A new line would add more depth I think - as it is it kind of hangs there like someone playing along to a recording of your song on their piano. Other than that it's cool, I enjoyed it.

Thanx alot Rob.

I don't know why a couple of people think the piano follows the vocals. It doesn't follow the vocals for the majority of the chorus. It only does at the end of the line, when it resolves at the end of the chorus. But if it was worth mentioning for more than one person, then I'll listen again and see what I can do for that part...but it's not following the vocals, it's playing counter-point.

Thanx for the comments, though. I do appreciate it. :)

Hey, I had a bit of a think about this point Rami. I only noticed that jonnydeep had expressed the same thought as me after I'd posted, so we both came to that conclusion independently.

I think it's because your mixes have such strong clarity and separation that any elements that are slightly one dimensional stand out. Like your guitar and drum parts generally have depth and your vocals are built up on good harmonies - but the piano part kind of stands alone as a slightly simplistic "one note at a time" part if that makes more sense than my earlier post. I wonder if you played each of the notes along with either their 3rd or 5th note, whether it would add the depth to that part that it's missing without having to change the piano melody?

Worth giving it a try anyway :)

Thanx Rob. Yes, that's why I said that if more than one person noticed something, it's probably worth at least giving a second listen to on my part.

That might be a great point, and definitely worth trying. Admittedly, piano is my weakest instrument out of all the instruments I play. I actually refused having any keyboards in my songs until I got a piano a few months ago. So, it's all pretty new to me. I'm going to try your suggestion and whatever else I can do to make that part less "one-note-at-a-time-"ish. Thanx a lot. There's always the option of just taking the piano out of that part, if it's doing more sonic harm than good. It was an after thought, really. I didn't have any piano in this tune until it was basically done.

I really appreciate that you took a second listen.
