I am struggling with a really silly problem. I want to record and playback at the same time using Audition 1.5. I can do both seperately, but not at the same time. I suspect I just do not know where to switch it on. I have seen no overdubbing, monitoring, or any such buttons. Please help.

Check your outs in audition.

What hardware are you using?

make sure you are in multitrack view and not EDIT view

I am using a Maya 44 MKII for my input, and the onboard, i think it is a soundmax, or something, for output.

Audition sees the Maya card as the primary recording device, and the SoundMax as the primary output device. As I say, I can record and playback, just not at the same time.

I suspect the default is not to playback other tracks while you record. The problem is, I don't know how to change this.

On every channel(multitrack view), you will see something like "Out 1" and "In 1". Click on those buttons and select your playblack and recording inputs/outputs. And yes as LemonTree suggested, make sure you are on the multitrack view and also keep the track you want to record, RECORD ENABLED or ARMED.

Thanks guys! Finally got it working. Figured out that you have to set the the already recorded tracks to "lock to play only". Then, when you record you can here those tracks, but you only record to the armed tracks. Quite simple really. Thanks again. :-)
