hey guys,

ok so i'm using PT m-powered essential, and for some reason, whenever a record a track my mix is always super quiet. i'm pushing the signal lvls as high as I can before they distort, and my output lvls on my interface are maxed out.

any ideas why my mixes and final exports are really quiet?

on second thought, after reading some posts in the mastering forum, I think it just might be my poor mixing and mastering skills. Still, if anybody has any ideas let me know

Sarcastic answer...turn up the speakers!

anyway, you could post a clip so we can hear what "really quiet" sounds like? Poor mixing can do it. Even with a simple mix it should still be around normal listening level, maybe not "radio" level but not quiet.

What are you levels sets at?

This might sound sarcastic, but it's often the "right" one. Unless you have excessive noise on your tracks, there's usually no need to worry.

If your monitors are already maxed out, and it's still not at a level you can mix at, then you may have a problem

Yeh,post up an audio file.

Quiet mix isn't necessarily a bad thing at all, but equally there could be something wrong.
No one will really know until they hear what you're dealing with.
