This to me is an example of how your statements may be misinterpreted by others.

really? strange. He said something, and i questioned it.

lets look at it again

his statement:

I suspect Pipe, that the original 'PC age' comment may have been 'taken to task?'.....and maybe was not considered a point of topic that Mad's wanted to discuss.? (although it is a good consideration)

my response:

what should i care about what he "wants" to discuss or not? I was making a GENERAL statement that he took PERSONALLY.

--

i added the caps for emphasis and comparison. I did not insult him in anyway, but addressed the point he made.

Who knows, maybe i should preface everything with flowery niceties that will ensure that i am not taken the wrong way? Then again, some people may respond to that as patronizing...

so damned if i do, damned if i dont.

I think in cases like this, thickening your skin and taking things with a grain of salt can be most beneficial, and really, its something WE can do ourselves, not blaming or depending on others to do for us (although i honestly believe that the dood didnt take it that seriously honestly).

and yes, lets please end this derailment. Its a good topic :D

Again, you seem to think this is just my problem and not yours as well. It's a universal problem with communicating by mere text. I'm sure that if we hung out in real life we'd get along fine.

I am smiling, trust me........well done people!!!:)

Now how about we go hit that strip bar?

Strip bars are disgusting to me. I have too much respect for women than to treat them as playthings. I used to date a stripper, and it was seeing that world up close that made me realize how demeaning it is for both the dancers and their patrons.

Well, as one of the biggest vegas evangelists ever, I can tell you, that an app made for input monitoring and asio, from the start, will open up new possibilities to you, and you don't even have to give up your current workflow, just add possibilities to it.

hahahaha...you won't believe this Mad's, but I married one.......and divorced one, after having 2 beautiful daughters!...
And, especially, what you said about 'play-things and respect'.???....man, I totally agree with you.

Ironic?......I was just trying to get us all together, albeit in the wrong atmosphere on this occassion, without sounding like a silly old-fart. (which I'm not by the way!! LOL).

I just so wanted you guys to get to the end-game, the way all intelligent people in disagreement should.....

Total respect for you two guys inparticular.....and thanx for making my day.

Jeebus! Alright fine, give me a link or something and I'll consider it.

run this itty bitty three meg file http://www.reaper.fm/files/2.x/reaper241-install.exe

select asio drivers

put reacomp or major tom on an input ( I think you'll like major tom better, but when you want to get tweaky, reacomp is like a dbx 160sl with the lid off, a pile of resistors and an optional opto circuit)

And try these plugs to restore a little bit of semi tactile feel http://stillwellaudio.com/

OK, cool. But before I actually install that reaper.exe, is there any documentation I can read first? As for the latter, I'll check out the site for more details.

Spitz - I totally appreciate your attitude, and in fact if you hadn't intervened I probably would have not gotten this far. So bravo.

But you should know - my real HR friends call me Madz. ;)

If you really need documentation to get running then something needs to get fixed in reaper. Coming from vegas, it should be a VERY easy transition using even most of the same key commands. However, there are a few things you can peruse

First and most highly reccomended is the reaper chatroom for quick realtime answers to any questions

REAPER - Help and Chat

Second are nicholas' awesome guides

http://www.cockos.com/reaper/userguide/ReaperUserGuide24Eval.pdf

and the reaper wiki http://www.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/Reaper_Documentation

Again though, you probably wont need either of those as a vegas user. Just log into the chatroom and keep it handy as you go

I'm not switching to Reaper, and I don't know where you got that impression. I thought that first link was to some kind of plugin. I've already tried Reaper, and I still like Vegas better. You're obviously not listening to me at all. I feel like jason does about me. I hope you're happy.

Well then, plugins not working on input monitor is on you, its not ASIO's fault or even VST's fault, much as I hate to have to back up Carly Simonberger

You don't get it! I never wanted nor needed plugins to work on input! That was all you pimping that! Jesus Fucking Christ On a Stick! Fuck!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, really! This thread was supposed to be about outboard gear from the beginning!

What the fuck?!?!?!?!

"Outboard Gear? Is it necessary? "

Which devolved into a claim that plugs couldnt be used on input which was the notion I was trying to correct

I'm glad I finally got to direct my anger in the right place after all. :D

Outboard gear, dammit!
