No, again you're quite right. He mentioned something about a "cheap" reverb and a "cheap" compresssor and then presumed to say that my computer should be able to handle that. Right or wrong, that pissed me off and set me off. And it totally disrespected my assertion that what I had running already was up to the task at hand. To me, it was as if he was saying "Well what you have going isn't good enough and you really should be doing this instead" even when I had already affirmed that what I'm doing is quite good enough.
so in other words, you are totally stubborn, and not open to any suggestions on changing your current workflow? Well you know what? You are also making statements that other people might consider. And for their sake, i want them to know that its totally ok to run some cheapo comps/verbs on input monitoring. old, free ones that are "cheap" on cpu, specifically.

All i was saying was, if your computer is over 2 years old, maybe there could be a problem. If not, running any old cheap compressor or reverb will work just fine for input monitoring, cpu wise and sound quality wise.
